To begin preparing your photos for the high-resolution digital scanner
and to ensure the highest quality scan we recommend the follow steps
before shipping your photos:
Old Photos
If your pictures are dusty, lightly wipe the surface with a soft
non-abrasive cloth or if possible use compressed air. This will
help to remove any materials that might cause an imperfect scan,
such as lines or spots on your digital files. Straighten all bent
corners and remove any photos that are torn or heavily damaged.
Acceptable Photos
We can only scan loose items, images that are mounted or have a
stiff backing will not go through the scanner. Photographs must
be able to flex and bend with little effort. Polaroid photos represent
the thickest material that can safely go through the scanner. Remove
all photographs from albums, picture frames, envelopes, and baggies.
Make sure no staples, paper clips, post-it notes, or sticky substances
such as glue, fun tac, or any other adhesives. We do not offer slide
or negative scanning at this time. We cannot scan any copyrighted
material.
Sort Order
Categorize your photos in size order with the smallest photos up
front with the largest ones towards the back. Separate Polaroid
pictures from the rest of the sort order. The scanners range is
from 3½ x 5 to 11x13 inches in size.
Arrangement
Make sure the orientation of every image is facing upright. If the
photo is upside down the final scan will also record it upside down.
Face all the images in the same direction, only the front side is
scanned. Rotating images available at an additional charge of $64.95
Packing the box
Photos should be fairly evenly stacked within the box and packed
neatly. We suggest using rubber bands to group them in bundles of
about 100-200 photographs. Fill any remaining space with bio-degradable
packing material or newsprint so shifting will not occur during
shipping. Fill out the order form and put it inside the box. Seal
up the box with the self adhesive tape. ScanninPics' address is
already affixed to the outside of the box so your ready to go.

Preservation
The chemicals applied during the development process break down
over time. Images fade, get damaged, torn, bent, stained, scratched,
and sometimes even get lost! Digitizing your photos allows you to
preserve them for hundreds of years.
Peace of Mind
Secure your memories for generations to come with multiples copies.
Digital images do not degrade when copied and reproduced. Well cared
for CD and DVD's can last for hundreds of years, and it sure takes
up a lot less storage
Restore
Digitized photographs can be restored to near original state by
using specialized PC software. Eliminate dust, scratches, red-eyes,
add brightness, contrast; bring those faded colors back to life.
Enhance
Make good photographs look great! Zoom in and crop around smaller
details, persons or objects; add digital FX such as frames and
drop shadows.
You can even remove unwanted objects or people such as your mother-in-law,
old girlfriend or boyfriend.
Organize
Get rid of those dusty ol' shoe boxes. Have all your photos organized
and consolidated in a single digital photo album. Digitizing your
photo collection will also allow you to find, view and share the
pictures you want faster and easier than ever.
